Freedom Run Farm began as a simple passion for real food. "It all started with a leg of lamb" Valerie says. Her husband George prepared their wedding feast — lamb marinated in pomegranate juice, garlic, and herbs, roasted on an open fire by the groom himself. The Samutin family’s love of cooking with fresh, quality ingredients led these former city-dwellers to move to the country full-time in order to raise their own livestock, produce, and bees.
In 2011 we came to our land in the Bluegrass of northern Shelby County, Kentucky with a desire to feed our children which has grown into a desire to bring the freshest, most flavorful food straight from our farm to your fork. We farm, we grow, we cook. We are food lovers who are passionate about what we do each day.
Good stewardship of the animals and the land is a responsibility we take to heart. We practice organic, sustainable farming. and do not use any artificial growth promoters or hormones. We are dedicated to handling our animals with the highest standards of animal welfare. We raise our meats on certified organic pastures where they are in the fresh air and sunshine.
We believe that the health of land, animals, and our food supply are deeply tied together.
